This isn't what I want anymore
An illusion inside my heart alone
And lying next to you only makes me sad
Because I know that it isn't mine
This dream will shatter one day
Leaving just the pieces and the tears
How can I find the strength within
To just breathe and let you go?

I'm breakfasty!

I stumbled across a random quiz on someone's LiveJournal and out of curiosity (and because really, who can turn down a nonsensical quiz) decided to take it. I was pretty amused by the completely useless yet strangely uplifting description provided in the result.

"You are 10:02 a.m.

You are breakfasty, like a pile of pancakes on a Sunday morning that have just the right amount of syrup, so every bite is sweet perfection and not a soppy mess. You are a glass of orange juice that's cool, refreshing, and not overly pulpy. You are the time of day that's just right for turning the pages of a newspaper, flipping through channels, or clicking around online to get a sense of how the world changed during the night. You don't want to stumble sleepily through life, so you make a real effort to wake your brain up and get it thinking. You feel inspired to accomplish things (whether it's checking something off your to-do list or changing the world), but there's plenty of time for making things happen later in the day. First, pancakes."

Chasing your dreams

One of my latest hobbies has been wasting my life watching random videos on Youtube, and recently I've become interested in covers and whatnot. I know most of the people whose channels I follow are probably already well-known enough but I figured I'd mention some of them anyway.

wotakufighter2121 [Takayuki Kurata]
There's this one guy in Japan who only has about 11 videos uploaded but dude, the number of related videos I've seen listed of people who have used his guitar arrangements... it's quite interesting. I'm not a guitarist myself, neither am I familiar with it, but the guy seems pretty talented. He also recently joined an indie band called LUNCH VOXX who I've only listened to one song from so far (not bad, but not really my thing). He uses a scarf to cover the lower half of his face which I suppose is his distinguishing characteristic for his appearance.

So this girl graduated from UC Berkeley in 2009 and is now in Japan working and chasing her dream. She's a singer-songwriter and quite a few of her songs are in Japanese. I only stumbled across her channel tonight so I haven't gotten a chance to listen to a lot of her stuff but I did like the few original songs that I listened to. I think that with some polishing they'll sound really great. I'm also a bit envious of her passion to chase her dream all the way to Japan. Wish I had guts (and talent) like that.

I guess I'll occasionally put up some more channels, even though I know that there are tonnes of people showcasing their talents (or lack thereof) on Youtube and even more people who already know about them. But more so than simply talent, I really only follow channels of people who have something interesting or memorable about them. Like penchants for borderline asphyxiation with scarfs.

Bored at work...

So I decided to listen to Pandora while playing some Solitaire (which I keep losing for some reason, btw), only to realise that I had no idea what artist/song/composer I should create a station based on. I started off with Sara Bareilles first then tried Rain (I don't think it's the same Rain as Bi though because the station kinda sucked wasn't what I was expecting) and finally settled on L'Arc~en~Ciel. I didn't try them off the bat because a year ago it kept giving me crappy music but this time the first song turned out to be by Asian Kung-Fu Generation, and I thought hey, maybe it'll give me some good stuff for a change.

Anyway, long story short, I'm on the 4th song and so far the playlist is fairly good. And seeing as I'm still losing in Solitaire, I figured that a better more interesting use of my time would be to write a blog entry about the songs while I listen to my L'Arc~en~Ciel station and wait for my western transfer to finish.

Asian Kung-Fu Generation - N.G.S. [whoo haven't heard AKFG in so long!]
Gackt - Farewell [of course, must have Gackt in here somewhere -_-; not a fan of this particular song though]
MUCC - Saishuu Ressha [omg I freaked out when this song started playing... I love this song!]
Gain commercial [sigh]
Yoko Kanno - Inner Universe [I really like this song too; haven't heard it in a while]
Asian Kung-Fu Generation - My World [not sure I've ever heard this one before... but not bad]
Gackt - Noah [instrumental? kinda nice, actually]
the Pillows - The Sun That Will Not Rise [I think I've only heard like 2 songs from the Pillows before, and this wasn't one of them. Very mellow, I like]
High and Mighty Color - Over [I remember hearing this a while ago on Pandora... okay song, it has its moments but kinda boring]
Yoko Kanno - Stamina Rose [somewhat interesting... somewhat]
Venus Embrace commercial [siiiiigh]
Yoshida Brothers - Red Bird (Akai Tori) [ooooh, instrumental? First time I'm hearing about the Yoshida Brothers but wow I really like this song... especially whatever old-sounding instrument is being plucked throughout. Edit: It's the shamisen.]
the Pillows - March of God [catchy ^^]

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the selection of music. Good job, Pandora. Much better than last time when you didn't even play Japanese music on my L'Arc~en~Ciel station.

Hallelujah, chance!

In typical procrastination style, I finished watching the Japanese drama プロポーズ大作戦 [Proposal Daisakusen] tonight instead of doing actual work. Although it had the obvious pitfalls that you would expect from any time-travelling-to-change-the-past-and-thus-the-future storyline, this drama was less about those technicalities and more about how hot Yamashita Tomohisa is the love story itself. Overall, I didn't think it was a fantastic drama and I found myself able to put it off for nights at a time rather than being completely obsessed like I was with other dramas. But it was still nice, and I especially liked the special that they made for it.

The next drama on my to-watch list is the Korean drama 미남이시네요 [You're Beautiful]. I've watched the first two episodes and I understand now why it was/is so ridiculously popular. I've seen Jang Geun Suk in a couple of movies prior to this and liked him but now whenever I see him my mind can't help but flashback to his highly disturbing memorable performance in drag at the 2007 MKMF. I really like Park Shin Hye in this drama because she's really adorable even as a boy! Though like I've said before, I bet it's the hairstyle.
I was a little surprised that her secret was exposed so early in the show but I guess I was unknowingly expecting something more along the lines of Coffee Prince? Also, actually being familiar with the guys who play the A.N.JELL members definitely adds to the experience. Lee Hong Ki's such a shorty compared to Jang Geun Suk and Jung Yong Hwa, hee hee.
Soooo many borderline disgusting scenes in the first two episodes alone though. I agree with Lee Hong Ki's character... I would have thrown her off the roof too. o_O She's lucky he fainted.

On an unrelated note, I searched for my first name on urbandictionary.com (as per other people's Facebook statuses) and it seems that people with my name are undisputedly AWESOME. Some excerpts:
- Slang for "most awesome girl ever"
- usually extremely beautiful. can surprise you at what she can do. very outgoing. can be emotional at times, but mostly just wants to party!
- Very hott girl that you won't seem to every forget about, amazing personality and great figure.
- amazing
- An amazing person, not likely to ever leave your thoughts, always to the be te only one on your mind . Incredibly beautiful, nice, smart, caring, and all-around great . Her eyes gleem with a radiance of a thousand stars, her lips draw you in, like magnets, her love is like life, without it, you surely cannot live.
- being of extreme beauty, class, and creativity. also happens to be pretty rad.
- An extremely intimidating person. Possibly may be small, but don't let it fool you.

I left out the ones with less-than-appealing definitions because you know... they're obviously wrong.
